Dropping in...I swear I did not know that retiring means not-having-time for anything from now on! n

Good heavens, it´s hot outside! 34 degrees, and it will stay this way! Now I emphasise with our German neighbours, who have temperatures beyond the ominous 30 since June! Here we had at least some recovery time with a few days with 13 degrees, when the bigger part of Germany still had 31.
I spend these days near or in our swimming pool, save for the short period of house cleaning in the early morning when it´s still cool inside, or when I have to refill the fridge by doing a trip to the super market. Oscar is intent on spending the time between kindergarten and dinner with hubby and me, to finally learn how to swim, but I think this is more because he has discovered the Schleich knight´s castle in a trunk in our bedroom. He loves the knights and the catapults, but even more he loves the horses in the stable. Today I sat with him when he began to sort them out based on the gender. Mama horses, papa horses, horses without balls, gar-nix horses...For the first time I had a closer look at those horsies, and yes, Schleich does a very exact job in modelling a horse´s genitals, save for those poor ones which completely lack both female and male traits, hence the name gar-nix horses. Oscar even had an explanation for the apparent lack of balls: The knights must have put their horsies into very cold water. Bad, bad knights! Poor horsies! Maybe one day his parents will explain him the sudden disappearance of these male reproductive organs!
Later we did a trip to the super market because some little monster had eaten all the ice cream in the fridge. Back home I needed a glass of water to cool down my inner core which was on the verge of melting, before I carried in the goods, and what did I find? Tuxedo cat in the car boot, having neatly unwrapped the package with sausages, blissfully munching the chicken salami. I admitted defeat and put a bowl with water next to Tux, in case the salami might turn out slightly salty to his taste-and then it was back-into-the-pool time. Why get into a fuss about chicken salami stolen by a toothless Methuselah cat? To show me how much he appreciates my not-scolding Tuxedo spent the rest of the afternoon on my lap, on the rather wet and cool towel I used to dry myself after bathing. Tuxedo might not be as pretty as a young kitten, but he´s still so very smart! This towel was by far the coolest place around in the garden, and the petting was a very much appreciated bonus!
