Not the best way to begin a day

Sorry for not having answered the comments on my latest entries, but the last days´ve been strenuous for our family and me. Today I woke up to my daughter clomping down the stairs, to catch her bus to school. And I found that I´d just got a message from my sister: Mum´s just died, come quickly! That had been at 1:50 in the morning, and now it was half past six. So never trust WhatsApp, messages may come in time- or not. Anyway, my sister and I spent the morning in the hospice, and mum is the new champ regarding length (briefness) of stay: got in on Wednesday evening and died Friday at 1 AM. The manager and the team of doctors were really nice, we had breakfast with them and mum next to us, which might sound macabre but is costum there, and it did indeed help to adjust to the fact that mum won´t come back from where she is now. Our mother might have died completely stoned, what a way to go for a woman who didn´t drink, smoke or trip out! At the funeral home I managed to pull one of my dreaded stunts (why do such things always happen at highly inappropriate moments?): I teared up my left contact lense and, instead of picking out a coffin, the employee and my sister tried to take what was left of my lense out of my eye. That hurt, and now I look like a Walking Dead Zombie. It´s good to be back home now, to come down from the adrenaline high, drink a cup of tea with my feet propped up while I tell myself: Don´t think. Don´t think. Don´t think. So we will have my mother´s funeral next Friday, but there´s more of bad news coming up: Sunday we will have to make a trip to my father-in-law, whose health situation has rapidly detoriated during last week. Now guess what he is suffering from!
