Heatwave? Where?

Incredible, but media here are talking about a heatwave, when we barely reach 28 degrees in the afternoon- for two hours, maybe. Then temperatures are quickly dropping again each day, and in the morning we will end up at twelve degrees. Of course, we people living in the country are spoiled. Fresh air, lakes aplenty, rivers to cool us down- in town life might be not so enjoyable.
All idiot neighbours (we have more than one) are back from last week´s vacation and are just livening up our life. Happy sawing- planing- sanding-whatever Saturday! The gardens around have been brimming all morning with the sounds of the tools our favourite do-it-yourselfers have dragged out of their sheds. That in combination with half a dozen of lawnmawers made my day! I had a sense of foreboding when for the first time in a week I heard those metallic clacking our premier idiot creates by banging his shovel against the clothes pole, indicating that he is up and running. It was six in the morning, at least one hour later than in the midst of summer!
Hubby has invited daughter and family number two for a "Good bye, summer" party, lunch included. He will be trying out a new recipe. Hubby had wanted me to do it, but I told him that since he was the one who invited family, he´d have to do the cooking himself. Not my party!
No progress with knitting, meagre progress with the jigsaw. The only hot place in the house is the conservatory. I managed to finish another constellation and did half of a second one, and my eyes did not like so much heat and so much sweat- they are itching and running again. There´s still a lot of work to do- those constellations are so tiny, but I want my conservatory back! Hopefully daughter will come to the rescue tomorrow and help me sort out colours!
Hubby has been measuring all day long. Officially it´s because he wants to bring the piano to number three´s house. For this he has to rent a transporter, and he does not know how big the car has to be. Inofficially it´s because he has to pick up beverages for the exhibition DiL is organising. It won´t make a good impression if the sponsor´s beverages won´t show up! Still no clue if and when he will get said car- a lot of people seem to be moving at the moment! As a last resort we will drive to St. Pölten in our car, pick the beverages up, do a short visit to number three then go back home. In this case the transport of the piano will have to wait until late October, when exhibition is finished and winter is not here yet...
