Cold
It´s a repeat of the latest springs´ weather- the moment we think we are free of the cold, cold is back. Colder thamn in winter. This always happens when the first fruit trees have begun blooming, like the cornel tree and the plum tree which pretended to be a mirabelle tree for some years. And then we wonder why there are so few fruits! Last night I resorted to an extra blanket- did not want to freeze my bits of- that´s what a friend of mine used to say, who was male. I never found a satisfying translation for this phrase, but the way he grinned when saying it was a bit revealing. Or he only wanted to taunt me. Or inspire my imagination. In the morning there was sleet which turned into heavy rain as the day progressed. Hubby turned the heating from off to on at lunchtime- until now we had no need for additional heating in the afternoon during March, the sun did her job well! Now it´s dark and unpleasant, and even hubby does more resting than usual. For lunch I did easy Tantanmen ramen while waiting for hubby to bring leaf spinach (that´s what I use for greens, I´m no pak choi lover), cleaned most of the downstair windows (inside only because of the cold) and hung the decoration up which I had found in the basement, when I turned the washing machine on. The afternoon got spent in bed reading and in front of the PC- I could not persuade myself to dress for magazine shopping, even though the rain must have stopped at some point. I will wait until the weather gets warmer- Monday or Tuesday, I think. Yet we were lucky- the worst of the cold ended up somewhere in Germany. Lucky us!
Xaver is still sick and in bed, so no visit tomorrow. Seems that we are in for a nice and quiet Sunday, much to my delight, not so much to hubby´s. Even without new magazines there´s a lot of reading for me to do- sister mine has found a new hobby: read what your older sister has been reading and discuss afterwards. Now I am under pressure- sister must be in possession of the list of books she gifted me over the years. I have read most of them only half, if at all. They are boring, mostly philosophical context and I hate them. But that´s typically sister mine- she loves such books. One of our most heated conversations was about the monetary tightness she was in at that moment- I told her to think philosophical, because that might sugarcoat the problem by thinking it into the ground- or take up regular employment. Sister did not talk to me for months then. Oh happy days, long gone...
