How you will know that you aren't truly awake
I got up at three and silently crept out of the bedroom to not wake husband mine. Heard daughter get herself ready for work in the bathroom, at least that´s what I thought. Leant against the creaky old cabinet and waited for her to finish so that I was able to dress, too- my clothes were already in the bathroom. Sat on the even creakier old chair and waited. Nothing. No one came out. Because no one was in. The door to the bathroom was wide open, the only light coming from the street outside. In my defence- my glasses were also stored in the bathroom, and without them I am half-blind, but still! Coffee did wake me then, because I burned my tongue. Darn you, coffee maker! Twice as expensive as the last one and fewer options to adjust temperature and the like! But I could do iced coffee, if I wanted. Will not happen with temperatures so low! It was raining cats and dogs, when we left. It was raining cats and dogs until afternoon, when we had half an hour of sunshine, which pushed the temperature up to incredible 19 degrees. Oh my God, we will all burn up! No doubt that the climate gets warmer, but can´t we have a piece of the warmth, too? There´s not a single ripe tomato in the garden. No chilli to harvest- the plants did not even flower! Lazy sods! As lazy as I was in the morning- I did not manage much save for cleaning the kitchen- a bit. Filled the dishwasher, wiped the countertops and the fronts, rest got done by husband. Picked daughter up at the airport at one in the afternoon. She was thoroughly on the edge after one of the norning flights got cancelled and no one had informed the passengers. Happens quite often, because Salzburg airport closes at eleven in the evening and the planes, if late, will come in in Vienna, hence no aircraft in Salzburg at six this morning, and lots of very frustrated passengers.
Lunch was a quick affair- Indian chicken with more naan. Then jigsaw with daughter, some crossword puzzles and a short nap. I had to go to the wool shop for more cotton balls for Elsa´s cardigan- alas, no pink again, only light blue. I will have to rearrange the stripes, but, more importantly, I will have to knit!
Tomorrow next early shift, and I´ll even have to do a cake- sis will come for a visit again. This family is crazy and must suffer from withdrawal symptoms when not getting in touch with me every two weeks. I could very well live with less visits and more me-time instead. And less baking, of course...
