Decluttering is fun
Yesterday
wiseheart mentioned in a comment that we live in strange times, where every feast will start too early. When I went shopping for Halloween decoration with Cassian I was lucky, because they had just begun with the unpacking and shelving of Christmas decor- that was in early September, before school here started. And I vividly remember a 27th of December, when I went To KIK to buy price-reduced Christmas articles but found easter decoration instead. Now I am used to early and excessive decoration mania (there´ve been some relatives living in Lake Havasu City), but that´s too much. Then again, Halloween is not a customary practise in our country, and many people loathe it- that´s why most shops won´t sell Halloween articles but go straight for gingerbread, Christmas stollen and baubles. I can´t decide which of the two bugs me more. So when I decluttered the third and last drawer of the newly relocated dresser in the conservatory and found Halloween decoration boxed as new, I took the items and put them into a box for this week´s church flea market. Same with the Christmas tinsel. Children love to craft, and let´s be honest, it´s way more fun than hang up skeletons, ghosts and baubles straight from the shop. So we will do macrame skeletons, ghosts in jars (love those, so cute), spooky wreaths and pumpkins made of baking paper instead- I went to the studio, powered Ashmael up, opened Facebook and downloaded at least ten reels showing such crafts. This will do for a while, since the boys aren´t here so often now that school has started.
Today weather was horrible- still dark at eight in the morning, when I had breakfast, raining heavily all day long. And the cold we had- only made it up to nine degrees! Heating is on as long as daughter, freshly returned from Japan tomorrow and used to warmer temperatures, will stay at our house- the thing is that heating at her flat will only start in the middle of October. Huzzah! Because there's another problem- the new radiator is leaking. Only a tiniest bit, hubby says, but still! And I had thought that the worst was over! Technically it's indeed over- I am pretty sure that hubby won't dare and kill the new radiator, too. That´s simply a question of money, he does not intend to waste hundreds of euro for the next aluminium radiator! But to do repair work the water in the heating circuit has to go again. Not when it's so cold outside, husband dearest!
Just when hubby prepared for leaving DiL called to tell him that he did not need to come over to supervise the boys. She has a cold (again), won't be able to play basketball and will do the supervising herself. Thank heavens for small mercies- hubby is quite stressed at the moment, and with my cold I can't drive over to spread my germs among our grandchildren! So a cosy evening in front of the TV it will be for me. Maybe more stress for husband dearest, because his job will be to keep me from falling asleep in the armchair- this will cause a very alert wife, when it´s time to go to bed!
