He did it again!
And he succeeded! Hubby wanted Reisfleisch (rice with meat) Viennese style. Definitely not the way I do it, because I prefer Serbian rice with meat. And the word Vienna alone makes my hackles rise. No more love for this town, even though my grandfather hailed from there and my parents owned a flat once. But hubby gets very agitated when he's not allowed to cook so I gave in. The only thing I did was turn the rice cooker on. Honestly, I never did Reisfleisch with rice cooked separately, but well, that's hubby and his tendency of looking for recipes that won't sound ordinary but complicated. Now that my nose is so blocked I won't be able to taste the results anyway. Alas, my nose decided against being blocked, and I found that hubby´s Reisfleisch was definitely over-seasoned and the meat tasted offish. That happens when hubby buys pork from Lidl instead of our butcher. Hubby now has prohibition to buy all sorts of meat there…Tonight was the first night in a long time I slept through. Woke at half past six, did a tour de loo then turned my tablet on to do some reading in bed. Got up one hour later and prepared breakfast. Hubby came down at eight exactly. He was long awake, but has his routine at the moment, he will get up at five minutes to eight, even if he plays the windmill game in bed because he is awake- hubby does not have a tablet in the bedroom to keep him otherwise occupied.
After some housework I decided to leave the house for a tour to the drugstore. Besides, the monthly magazines I love to browse had to be bought, too. Nothing better than read a gardening magazine when outside there's too much of winter, even though we finally we made it up to zero degrees around lunchtime. The prospect of getting rain the next days is not exactly encouraging- there will be lots of icy streets then. Definitely a reason to stay at home!
Linda, my daughter's former host in NZ, posted on FB today that she was one day shy of going for her annually camping trip to Maunt Manganui. She does so every year with son and daughter, including one future son-in-law this year. Now she is glad that she wasn't one day early. They had so much rain in the area that she had postponed the trip- and is still alive. Only yesterday hubby and I watched a documentary about the Bay of Plenty- it's such a beautiful place, and I had a crime-free evening for once!
While having my after-lunch rest I found a meme on FB, where people should decide which free seating they want to take on a plane- a lot of participants opted for a seat next to Trumpel (to off him). Almost as many decided to take the seat across the aisle, to ratify Trumpel had died of natural causes. I know it's bad, but I had to laugh so hard when reading this meme!
In the afternoon I had to prepare son´s room- airing, fresh linens, dusting, vacuuming. Hubby was still offended about Reisfleisch being less of a success but a failure, so he did not help. The moment I finished I got a call from son, who postponed his visit to next week, quickly followed by DiL´s call, who will need my good and usually faithful old car next week for transporting paintings. She only does not know when exactly. I am so doomed with my family…
