Accio new tyres
Hubby brought the cars and the trailer to the repair shop for tyre change. Turned out that my car needs new winter tyres. That´s strange, because I got new ones two winters ago. Maybe it makes sense to not always go for the cheapest ones- I dare say that I do not do much driving in winter. Might be because I do not leave the house so often then, because I have gone dormant only the basic needs will get met- no gadding about without reason (I just know, but hubby does not agree to this). Hubby has been studying advertising for tyres all afternoon long...
Once again I went through the content of our fridge and created a new recipe for lunch. Hubby had only noticed that vegetables and minced meat were involved and started to boil water for noodles, when I showed him the pan- no noodles, no rice today but dumplings simmering on top of the mixture of mirepox and meatballs. Sadly I used the last self-raising flour up, but got the best dumplings ever. No clue were I bought this sort of flour, which is a shame- it has served me well!
Daughter wants pumpkin pie for Halloween. I have been searching for an authentic recipe, but all I found was miscellaneous recipes for the filling. Apparently Americans are used to pour it into a pre-fabricated crust. Fortunately it´s not so hard to do a shortcrust pastry!
Since it´s strongly recommended to do the pie the day before I won´t go into cooking overdrive for Halloween- it´s only sushi I will have to do and the darn bloody food made of minced ham. I will have to cook the ham on Wednesday, after my visit to the dentist and the trip to Germany for fresh and smoked salmon and prawns. And Avocados. I was in three shops this afternoon, and all avocados they had were hard as a stone- not a chance to get them soft enough for Thursday!
The current weather drives me crazy- lots of fog until late morning, lots of sun afterwards- I have to water the outdoor plants practically each day! Easily done in summer, when the water drum is filled and not emptied for winter! I´m always making a watery trail from kitchen to terrace, on which I tend to slip when dashing back in. Learning from mistakes is so not my thing!
