National Day today
Oct. 26th, 2024 05:23 pm I already assumed there´d be trouble ahead- husband mine has carefully perused the newspaper for the schedule at the barracks. He called son in the evening that he´d pick the boys up and show them the marvel that is our armed forces. Swearing-in, helicopters, paratroopers, some outdated jet fighters- hubby and the boys loved it. While I did tantanmen ramen for lunch the three of them had Frankfurter sausages. Hubby brought the youngsters to our house then, where they admired the Halloween decoration. Flavius is a sucker for battery-operated items- the moment he was unsupervised the strings of Halloween lights began to twinkle, onee pumpkin was singing, another laughing maniacally, the skull watched us with red eyes. I was after the young rascal for three hours straight, until their father packed the boys into his car and was off. BTW, my complaints about the storability of pumpkins bought at the farmers fell on DIL´s sympathetic ear- son had to drive to the main rail station next town, to buy a pumpkin for Halloween carving. It would have been faster to do the trip over the border to Germany, plus son took my carving gear with him. Now I wonder if I will get it back in time for my own carving attempts!
When I turned my PC on I noticed that the mouse was not working as supposed, it needed new batteries- only that all AA batteries where now in the compartments of the Halloween decorations. I unscrewed the laughing pumpkin- that thing is way too loud anyway!Tomorrow I will have early morning duty again, and the next day, too. Blessedly the mobile will need no adaption, otherwise it might be tricky to get up at the correct time because of the time switch! Daughter is supposed to arrive by late afternoon- too late to start a new jigsaw, early enough to do some crossword puzzles. Today´s TV programme bodes ill anyway! Not that I made it through any of the movies awake hubby watched the last weeks...
