Heat wave

It was 30 degrees at 10 AM. For some of you this might not be that bad, but here only few houses have air condition yet. We simply did not need it in former days. And there's lots of wood involved with those buildings. Almost all of them have wood paneling on the upper floors, which makes the situation worse. Our house has turned into a camp for those who have neither air con nor pool. A coffee, a swim, then back home. Maybe see you again in the afternoon...Would not be so bad if the neighbour who does neither vaccination nor testing but is found with her similar thinking friends all week long would not be among them. But she is. Hubby and I are contemplating to tell her this far and not further when she is in front of the door next time.
Hubby does some work on the house. Sounds as if he wants to dismount the balcony. Our terrace has sunken a bit, so the girder has sunken, too, while the rest of the house is stable. Terrace has no cellar under it. We live on river sand over clay, means there is a lot going on in deeper layers we do not see but experience the consequences of the underground movements only. I wonder if hubby will be victorious. My guess is not.
I did not take my temperature last night like my friend urged me to do. I slept like a log until seven in the morning then did some reading. My arm feels a bit sore, that's all. My friend will be mightily disappointed. Maybe she'd better double the dose of her blood pressure medication to get over the shock ...I have spent most of the day in the pool, doing absolutely nothing save making coffee and doing conversation with those who wanted a short respite from the heat. Even cooking lunch was done half heartheartedly. Too bad that hubby had brought a kilo asparagus. I only ate two spears, albeit huge ones. The rest will have to wait until tomorrow!

I hear ya re: heat. In our non-isolated, no-aircon 53 square metres of concrete the heat wave is a real delight — NOT! I suggested Mum that we should make a business of ripening bananas or breeding tropical reptiles on the balcony... we'd earn a shitload of money that way! For some reason, though, I couldn't talk Mum into the idea. *g*

We are lucky that the sun is off at seven thirty at this time of the year thanks to a range of hills. Same range makes sun disappear at one PM at winter solstice...I do not know why your mother is so averse to a bathtub full of baby crocodiles. Baby crocodiles are so cute!

I think it's simple envy on Mum's side. Since she can no longer climb into the bathtub herself... *g*
