Giving up

Weather forecast foretold a warm, sunny Saturday. Yay, I thought, at least one day for sun-bathing. How wrong I was! In the morning my sister announced her visit for tomorrow. Well, it´s her birthday today, so who am I to refuse her request? She does not come alone but has her husband and son and daughter with her (about the age of my two youngest). Since all four love cake I will have to bake. Not that bad, there´s lots of fruits to get these days. Besides, sister never comes early nor stays long, she will come in the late afternoon when the next cold front is supposed to hit. We still do not know where this one came from so quickly... Everything fine then? No, of course not! A few minutes later DiL number three announced that she will come for a visit with her friend, and she will come for lunch. Huzzah! My number four announced that he´d love to take the train back to Graz in the morning to avoid the ruckus but will not make it out of the bed in time. Understandable, six days out of the bed at 7:40 when you have to gamble until two in the morning takes its toll. Hubby came to the rescue, he decided to do Schnitzel, rice cooker will do the rice and my job is to do potato salad. No cake. Want one, buy yourself one. This house will turn into a madhouse anyway, with Cassian here plus his cousin Elsa and her best friend. Not to speak about the girl´s mother whom I have never met before. By the way, Cassian was very good today. I bought a booklet with stickers. That boy loves stickers, this I can tell! Eat up your lunch? Sticker! Tidy up the cars? Sticker! Be nice to the cats, feed them, do not play with their water bowl? Sticker! He got four today, enough for him to create a little story in his sticker book. Good for his imagination, and by telling the story he improves in making longer sentences. Being raised bi-lingual is easy-peasy this way! His mum does the Romanian part, his dad the German one. I remember the time when I did practise German with DiL. She had bought the book for her official lessons, but when starting a new one she felt thoroughly offended, and with good reason! The Romanian course participants had to conjugate a short phrase which was ´I am a thief´. How the heck did this sentence make it into a course book?

You really never have the time to get bored, do you? Have you thought about opening a hotel one day? After all those family visits a hotel would be dead easy — and you'd even make money! *g*

Actually, when hubby and I retired we thought of having a quiet life with a lot of travelling and occasional visits from our children ...

Hopefully borders will all open soon — and you and your husband can travel and let the rest of the family visit your house without you :)

As long as senile cats are alive we will not be able to travel to avoid family invading. And it is not so bad to have family reunions, only that a bit of space between might be nice
