Day one

First thing I got to learn in the morning was that lockdown might hold way longer than they first told us. They want the numbers down to 2000 a day, this way we will sit at home until Easter, or maybe longer. I did a quick drive to the drugstore and the bank then to Lidl, to buy some mistletoe. Great, what they had was mistletoe missing most of its berries. I bought it anyway, because with so many berry-eating birds around berries would be off in a short time, and I won´t have to scrub bird scat this way. Please note: birds often poop while eating... Never in my life had I been merrier than the day our neighbour sawed his huge cherry tree down. My balcony has been a mess when cherries were ripe for feeding! Back home I had Cassian duty. Hubby was already fed up with him- don´t know why, that boy is an angel in comparison to Elsa! Hubby left with grandchild in the afternoon, and my friend came to pick up red and white paint she needs for a project. She is vaccinated twice and got tested before she came. Antigen test only, because the PCR testing system has broken down this morning and is not running smoothly until now. That´s Austria to a T, nothing ever works the way it is supposed to. Lucky me friend was with me, because in the short time she was here two unvaccinated neighbours wanted to get into the house. Sorry, dear folks, but with the dragon at the bend of the street, who loves to denunciate, and for my health you better not show up for the next weeks! I might miss you, but not that much that I will risk having police in front of the door!

We are in the habit of doing the lateral flow tests if we have any possible symptoms — we keep a few in as we can collect them as required from our local pharmacy.

As far as I am aware all my friends are vaccinated — it seems 92% of our age group on-island are, and they are working their way through us for boosters now — we get ours tomorrow. But I would be unhappy to let anyone unvaccinated into the house even though we are not in lockdown or under any restrictions at all.

They must be bored, I'd say. I am bored, too, but I would not even think of snowing into another one's house, though I am vaccinated. And if I were not, then even less!

Your neighbours are a menace!

They are, indeed! I think I will have to make myself scarce the next weeks! And bar the door!
