Chill day

Nothing to do today, so winding down was on the schedule. After breakfast I went up into the mini studio, turned on the TV- and could chose between six different fairy tales, four children´s movies and four!!! channels with even more exciting news about Covid. I changed my mind and began dusting. Even dusting is more satisfactory than watching another report about a disease we do not want but cannot make take off. After lunch I made another attempt at watching TV and promptly fell asleep during the end scene of the fellowship, waking up towards the end of the Two Towers only. It was a bittersweet reminiscence of how many years have passed since the movies came into the cinemas. In comparison to today´s possibilities many scenes feel so outmoded now. Very much loved by me, but still... Now I am waiting for the Amazon series. Seems that it will start in September. Not much key information otherwise, save that filming of the second season will take place in the UK instead of NZ. Thanks to Covid again, I´d say. Flying around the globus is a no-go now. Sigh...
On Thursday Elsa and family will arrive for a short vacation. Might be that at that time we will have Cassian, too, to fulfill his father´s birthday wish- two days without son number one, so that he can finally sleep late. Cassian is a notorious early bird- getting up at 5:30 is what he does every day, and since his mum is taking care of the new addition to the family it´s his dad who has to get up early to make breakfast for offspring number one then leave for work. Elsa gets up early also, so maybe we will smuggle the little boy into his cousin´s family for morning entertainment! Btw, son number three sent me a foto- it was snowing where he lives! Outrageous! It´s our region which is supposed to have snow during winter, but here it is raining non-stop. Strange world we live in!

I find that the only things I can bear watching nowadays are the various re-runs of The Great Christmas Bake-Off, Kirstie's Handmade Christmas and The Repair Shop.

The LotR movies are shown on various channels over here, too, but since I never liked them for a number of reasons, I won't subject myself to them.

I loved the movies once, but the older I get the less time I spend in front of the telly. I do no more have the patience to watch long movies. I will have to google for Kristie´s handmade Christmas. Never heard of it before...

Basically, it's a Christmas-themed crafting show. Each time they have a competition between 4 candidates, in various "disciplines" like Advent wreath making, Christmas tree decorating, Christmas cakes, cookies, festive table decorating and the likes. And in-between various easy crafts are presented to give the viewer ideas — not all of them can be easily realized, I think, but all of them enjoyable.

Over here the show is aired on a channel named Spektrum Home.
