Yesterday a dear friend finally made it into my humble abode, armed with a bottle of Prosecco and a belated birthday cake, and no, that´s no tale about Little Red Riding Hood, but a story about a hilarious evening, err, night. It started with dinner made by my husband, accompanied by one glass of Prosecco. With the cake I served coffee, a small cup but a strong one, as usual. Coffee does not affect me,or so I thought. For years I suffer from bouts of hypersomnia. I´ve wrecked one car this way, slept away in theatres and cinemas, and sometimes even during work. Medication did not work. Coffee did not work, until last night. Usually my friend leaves at ten, because both of us have to get up early. At ten hubby went to bed, we chattered away. At eleven, she brought in her laptop, because we had decided to browse for fitting names for a piece of fanfiction I wanted to finish. At midnight my daughter reappeared, roused from sleep by our screams of laughter. Friend left at one in the morning, still laughing. I crept to my studio and began to edit my fanfic. At three in the morning, my scribbling was just about ready. Fandom Wraeththu (reread the books recently and fell in love a...third time?, that´s why I dug out the fic), about 8000 words ( of course not all of them written during said night). All original names save one picked out of German brands of cat food, cat litter etc. I wonder if I´ll ever have the guts to post that fic on my journal. Each time I pick up a can of cat food to feed the furry brats I get the giggles. Poor hara, being named this way! Blame the coffee, it made me do it!
