Yesterday must have been an aberration concerning weather, because today it is cold, stormy and rainy again. Everything of interest is happening indoors, and I can tell you, it is not much. The most exciting moment today was when I turned on the oven- and nothing happened. Just when I thought the next electric device had just died on me hubby found the solution for the problem, reset the clock and all was okay again. Saved by the bell, I thought I´d have to do the toasted bread with cheese, ham and avocados in the microwave, which surely would have ended in disaster aka avocado goes flying. Had it once, do not need a repeat.
Oh, I did a short tour de garden after lunch, because I was interested what neighbour´s cat had found in the grass. It was a blind worm, a big one at that. Not a clue why cat was so intent on munching away this one, so I chased cat away and carried the poor creature to the adjacent property where the grass is high and chances are better for hiding. I had to chase the cat off twice more, then it gave up. I love blind worms, they are so cute!
Oh, and a not so cute spider made it into the kitchen. It might have made it under the larder, but Vaire cat was hard on the spider´s heels, so I took notice of what was happening. As you know already how much I love those ugly beasts, you can picture the outcome to yourself. Vaire was rather upset because I killed her snack. With all that wood hubby is bringing in from outside to feed the fireplace, there´s likely more of those spiders trying to roam the house. Yuck!
I am very envious of my friend, who is sailing the Mediterranean Sea for two weeks. Weather there is way better than here though not as warm as it could be. Now let us hope that she manages to stay on board and come back to show me the photos of her trip. With cats so old and frail, daughter off to Finland in August and Corona still lying in ambush we cannot even think of leaving the house for a holiday. That´s mean, really mean …

Opened the blinds in the morning then had a fit of anger. Apparently weather will only get better when the last of the blossoms on the fruit trees have frozen off. I do not even want to imagine how much we will have to pay for saisonal fruit this year, especially if you consider that imported fruit is not imported in such large quantities as it has been the years before, because, you know, corona and we have to support local farmers by buying local products... Trouble is that none has a cash cow at home, well, at least most of us don´t. And since the price of ordinary apple varieties was far over three Euros per kilo I do not even want to know how high prices will climb in autumn! The only cheap fruits we can buy at the moment is strawberries from Spain. Only that I am allergic to strawberries...
Breakfast, the highlight of my day, was nice as always, at least until I got up to get me another cup of coffee. Only then I felt a cool but quite sticky wetness on my thighs. One of the cats had puked on the dining chair, and me, wearing no glasses, had sat amidst the mess. Oh those cats! There´s 40 square metres of tiled floor to puke on, but no, it has to be my chair!
Hubby is on his way to get his first covid vaccination. They have phoned him half an hour ago, to come quickly. That´s what you get when those with a regular vaccination appointment do not show up because, you know, Vaxzevria aka AstraZeneca.
We just have another sleet shower of epic proportions going down. It is quite dark outside, so I have to type with the studio´s lamps on. I am so fed up with this weather!

Irose in january
See what I mean? I took that picture today, at the parking lot of my school. The rose bushes are sprouting, tiny roses appear amidst the winterly flower bed! The meadows are dotted with daisies, and even crocuses are showing up already!

This morning I stepped onto my terrace, to do a bit of spring winter cleaning. Oh boy, there´s a lot to clean when you have spent Christmas Holidays mainly indoors. Remnants of bird food, cat food, New Year rockets...It was 8 degrees Celsius, the sun was shining(?), the birds were chirping(??), the first snowdrops had made their appearence (???), and I had a sneezing fit. I now know why. Willows, hazels and alder trees are in full bloom, at the beginning of January. No snow in sight, only a bit of rain, not enough that I won´t have to water my outdoor plants, no freeze (well, maybe a bit of it during nights next week), only sunshine and lots of chinook winds these days. So while  North America is suffering from cold spells and heavy snowstorms, people in Middle Europe might as well unpack their spring clothes. Something has to be seriously wrong with our climate!

Good morning, folks! It`s Sunday the 15th of July, outside we have 12 degrees Celsius, it is pooring, as always. Sick cat is sick again and spread its sickness all over the bathroom floor. Sick dog has a cough now, doesn´t devour its own food but tries to steal each and every edible thing out of the kitchen. My vet will be delighted to see all of us again on Monday, while my wallet is on a diet. Yesterday I packed together the majority of my summer outfits to store them in the cellar. No need of them this year. On the positive side, I did some, albeit short, bike rides with my daughter, exploring our proximity. Now I´m off to the kitchen, preparing some Mexican food. I´ll bet you anything that my dog won´t steal the chili peppers.

First week of holidays is almost gone. So far, I´ve been refurbishing my patio, my kitchen has yet to undergo the same process. I´m sitting in front of my keybord now, lights on, because the weather is bad, 12 degrees, lots of rain, no fun at all. Teenies are asleep, as always, only getting up for food intake, while I am wallowing in self-pity, because this scenario will not change until school starts again in September. Cleaning, cooking, cleaning again. I´d love to write a bit, but my brain is kind of befuddled. Any suggestions? Of course not. Maybe a short city trip will cheer me up a bit, but usually I´d spend a few days in London, which is not the best location now with the Olympic Games looming. Ah yes, and there will be another trip to Ireland, which I dread already. We´ve had a few hot days this summer. Usually I do not like heat, but a few hot days do not represent a summer as it should be in our climate. I know, I´m constantly whining about the weather, but it´s abnormal this year. And I´m certain that at the end of August, the weather in Ireland will be pretty much the same as we have here now. My daughter will be delighted. No sunburn, not a single one. She will keep her milky white complexion, while I look like death warmed up. I wonder how long my recently purchased Japanese maples will have to plod along in their way too small plant pots, until I am brave enough to go outside and put them to their rightful place next to the tiny garden pond. Maybe tomorrow. Or the day after tomorrow....

For the next two weeks I´m stuck at home with one love-struck teenage daughter, a wannabe-mechanic who is intent on wrecking his motorbike, and bad weather. Really bad weather. The one which comes through the cellar door, flooding your basement, again. At least, there are two more people at home to clean the mess. Why can´t I live in Arizona with my remaining relatives? Ah, might be better to stay on the wet side than losing your home to fire.

Dear universe, what have I done to offend you ? Yesterday has been the third time in the space of two weeks I had to drain my cellar because of heavy rain. I demand a new back, new furniture and a change of weather, immediately!
