Even though corona infections are rising once again, and quickly so despite restrictions eased to some degree only, college insists that two of the exams daughter has to take will have to be done at the college, and that hybrid classes will start after Christmas. Apparently this is the only college treading this path, and I wonder how this will fit into the plan of our minister of education, who decreed distance teaching for colleges and universities up to the end of February. So daughter will leave on Monday and is supposed to return on Saturday, and son number four, who has been moving around between our house and shared apartment, will get picked up on Friday, together with his PC, for a prolonged stay at home. This one he can´t bring home by train, too big it is yet vital for a satisfying student life. A most wondrous thing will happen: After nine months of siege hubby and I will finally have our house all to ourselves, if only briefly, but still! Hooray, hooray! I´d love to throw confettis, alas, since most of our gastronomy is still closed daily cooking will have to be done as usual. Gone are the days when hubby and I had nice dinners out! Delivery service is pizza mostly, and the only pizza I love is sold in a pizzeria about half an hour´s drive away. Four days to ourselves is a luxury I´ll have to revel in, before our house will turn into a beehive at Christmas. Good thing is that number one to three plus spouses get tested twice a week in their job. Bad thing is that number four and five both stay in close contact with their fellow students. Let´s see what happens and hope for the best...
I finally found the CD I made for last year´s Christmas, and now it´s running in continuous loop. I wanted to do one with Christmas carols, too, but my converter has gone nuts. Can´t update it, and the new one I tried does not work either. I will have to resort to Youtube and all its advertising...
Just now daughter dearest asked me to bake a Christmas fruit cake. I have done a fruit loaf which is long gone, besides, she wants cake with brandy. Daughter is so very funny. If she had told me she wanted one I´d had baked one a few weeks earlier. I will give the short version a try this evening, soaking it a bit with her favourite alcohol, not sure about if it will work out!
Just in time we finished last puzzle of 2020. This one was a mean one with all those tiny pieces! You can see it in the picture, not even as big as a thumbnail! But we got cheered on by Christmas elks and reindeers!
