The night was quiet...
Jan. 3rd, 2026 05:56 pm ...while my day was not. The boys slept till seven in the morning then watched a funny video clip in bed. At seven thirty we got up and soon noticed that the heating was not working- at minus ten outside. Darn husband and his need for daily pottering around with the adjustments! I turned the electric heater on and sent hubby to the basement, to remedy what he had botched. Soon heating was working again, we had breakfast and were ready to cope with housework. Two guestbeds and the marital bed needed changing of bedding. both boys helping with it, that´s why it took longer to finish. Hubby also turned the washing machine on, while I vacuumed the tiles on the groundfloor. No wiping when the floor isn´t warm, or we´d do sliding inside the house. The boys braved the cold and had fun with sliding down the tiny snow hill next to the garden wall. Not that we have much snow, but farmer´s snow plough heaped what he scooped up along the street- that man knows what we need! I cooked spaghetti with creamy Alfredo sauce and prawns- the boys get brought up with seafood! Flavius was his usual self, from nice and funny to grumpy and defiant in the space of a few seconds. Daughter will only cuddle him then (wrong), hubby and son overreact by getting loud (even wronger), and I will ignore him- works best for me, and he will be back to behaving quickly. I sent him to bed after lunch, and he woke just before the parents came to pick up their offspring. Apparently their travel plans to Peru have solidified, and hubby and I are in for three weeks plus a few days of caring for the boys next August. But only, as hubby has voiced it, if there´s no new cat in the house- Samsung´s successor will be an indoor cat and needs proper entertainment we are not ready to provide. The moment family number two was off hubby dressed and did what he had missed the most those last days- grocery shopping, even if we did not need anything. There´s bread, there´s greens, the fridge is full, freezer, too. We even have potatoes, if hubby feels the need for having some for lunch...
Now, at not yet six in the evening, we are down to minus six already. For the first time winter is what it´s supposed to be- wintery and cold. This evening I will have to go down to the basement, to have a look if some obstinate know-it-all has once again done unwanted pottering around- hubby has been down for too long to not wreak havoc again...
BTW: What is it with LJ users taking fligt to DW again? What did I miss? There has to be a reason why DW welcomes new users with open arms!
