After stumbling through winter depression since the days have turned short and cold I got up early this morning to prove that I can do better. No, I did not get my much-desired quiet breakfast, because husband mine, steadfastly getting up at five to eight for weeks now followed my lead to the living room five minutes after I had departed the marital bed. Apparently men at a certain age tend to cling. Poor me!
I dressed for shopping, even though I had intended to stay at home all weekend long, hubby still sellotaped to me. We went to Aldi, I finally found the green, cosy blanket I had searched for before Christmas came (and went), we returned to a regional supermarket for cake and cold cuts (sis and BiL were coming for a visit in the afternoon). Got me some black and white wool for a fun project, since I still haven't found a nice summertop to knit for Elsa, met an old friend I haven't seen for ages and promised to meet with her for coffee and cake, when she'll be in town next time.
I know that I have been neglecting a lot of my friends, but living next to hubby means really living next to him. He never did take lightly when I met up with friends, so I only did so when he was at work. Now that he has retired it's even harder to get out of the house. Instead of getting easier, life turned out complicated in retirement, but it's about time that I won't let lethargy tear me down. BTW: At Sis's visit we had a lot of fun! We went through a staple of old pictures I had found in a drawer, swapped funny video clips and finally assessed that both of us would never be allowed to set a foot into big doofus's country after all the things we had painted (and posted). No problem, who'd want to go there, anyway!
