Of course my sister and I knew that one day mum would not be able to live alone anymore. That she would need someone to feed her, bath her. That she would need palliative care. And yet, when it happens, it´s too soon. Mum got her cancer diagnosis almost three years ago, and they gave her one more year to live. She did fine for a long time, but two months ago swallowing became difficult, and now she can swallow fluids only. She is on a space food diet, she says. The cancer has spread to lung and liver. Mum knows it´s time to go. We are frantically looking for a hospice that will take her, at least as long as the renovation of the flat my parents had lived in for fourty years will be complete. If mum even lives that long. Doctors say it´s a matter of a few weeks at the most.I really don´t think I´m ready for this...

I am sorry to hear about your mother - even when expected these things are difficult. I hope you can find a good hospice very soon.

*hugs*
