Another sleepless night advancing,,,
Jan. 8th, 2015 02:52 pmWell, isn´t that great? We´ll have another squall line passing through this night. And my cats, who have slept through many New Year´s Eves and the obligatory fireworks without batting an eye will panic like always, when they hear the howling from outside. During the last storm a few days ago I had to confine them to the upper bathroom, where they have their cat tree and their food bowls. My patience had run out after those psychotics had spent the whole evening hiding under the sofas, the blankets, in the closet, occasionally dashing out of their hiding places, hissing at us and batting at our feet, as if we had ordered the storm outside, afterwards returning to their hide-outs. They were clearly afaid of the constant howling of the wind and the sounds of objects tumbling over outside. I woke up at three in the morning with a hissing cat on my pillow, not good when you are allergic to cat hair and haven´t yet finished your desensitisation. And how come that the cats got out of the bathroom in the first place? Namo and Vaire aren´t dumb, they have mastered a lot of tricks over the years, but I did not know they were able to open doors with reversed door handles. Vaire cat had yanked the box with the toilet paper off the rack, to get better access to the handle, and now knows that she must not push top down but from right to left. Namo has been a receptive student, because only he is tall enough to reach the handle of the bedroom door. No wonder the cats were back in my bed five minutes after hubby had put them back into the bathroom, and I was sneezing the rest of the night! So today we might have a repetition, if the storm turns out a bad one. Maybe I should go and search for a pair of nippers, to close the latch from outside, but then everybody will have to use the ground-floor bathroom instead. Teenies will not be approve of having to sneak down the stairs in the middle of the night, because it´s fun to stay up until two in the morning though there will be school next day, and eventually get caught by a rabid mum!
