Twelve years ago, after one real hot summer, hubby decided we needed a pool, and with the pool came the necessity of an electrian, because the combination of water and electricity unregulated might prove lethal. So we contacted an electrician who installed the necessary security arrangements to prevent bathing people from being electrocuted. This year we needed an electrician because there was absolutely no power in the pool´s control box. The culprit was found, and after a few minutes of work we were told that the electrician who had performed the work twelve years ago must have been a lunatic, because he had screwed in an RCCB but had not plugged it in. Hubby told the worker to send greetings to his father because he had been the one who had done the "professional" work, and made a new appointment which was two days ago. Pool technique and house technique got an update. At ten in the evening our house was dark as midnight, no, not because everybody was asleep, but because power had bid goodbye. After a few minutes the culprit was found: the moment our boiler switched over to off-peak electricity the RCCB in the house fell. Now we had power again but no hot water. And no electrician, because you can´t call for one at seven in the morning and hope to get one the same day. What you get is another blackout in the evening. Hubby´s phone call with our professional roused me from bed, and I vaguely remember a few unusual terms like dimwit and bungler and the mention of a a professional association which should be informed. We still have no hot water, and no electrician, of course. Why hasten when there´s a common shortage of professionals?
