Elsa's christianisation has been almost two weeks ago, and we had to do a three-hour drive to get to the church the proud parent's had chosen, a quite big church of pilgrimage in a hamlet with maybe 30 houses. No inn, no restaurant, no public lavatory, which was really bad, because I had managed to catch an inflammation of the bladder, the first and hopefully last one in my life, and though medication had done wonders already, I was still in need of a loo more often than usual. So a trip to the next hamlet it was, which blessedly had an open coffee house with a functional lavatory, and more coffee for me. Elsa was Elsa at her best, she was well-behaved and did not whine during the service, but neither did she sit as an awe-struck babe would. I was not able to take a single photo that was not fuzzy in some parts: a winking hand, a kicking leg...she simply can´t keep still. She wore the christening robe I had ordered from our tailor, a long vintage dress with lots of lace, which made her look like a little Halloween ghost which got its calendar mixed up (that´s what her father said, not me!). What she did not have was a little white jacket, because mummy always buys the pink ones. One week late I began to knit a white baby jacket, and that´s when everything went down the drain. I am not an experienced knitter anymore. For our first kids I did a lot of sweaters, because I was bored out of my wits, with the last two ones I wasn´t bored but stressed out, so the knitting needles stayed locked-up, wherever locked-up was located, I could not care less. Now I had wool, needles and a lot of time to do the knitting...ha! I so knew that desaster would strike, it always does when things look good! I had chosen a long jacket, more of a little coat like the ones Paz Rodriguez sold last winter. I began to knit but soon had to realize that I did not have enough wool for my endeavour. Well, it´s not that hard to skip the bottom part of the coat and make it a jacket instead. It still wasn´t enough wool so I changed the knitting pattern which meant I had to unravel what I had knitted before. Oookay, that did damp down my enthusiasm. A bit. I had to unravel again, because a rebellious edge stitch did a detour downward, and I did not catch it in time. Anyway, the jacket was as good as finished except for one sleeve, when Miss Scatterbrain came back from college, and the missing balls of wool with her. She had packed them into her suitcase- accidentally, she says. I believe her. That girl is not able to locate the starter thread of a ball of wool.

Jacket is finished, bonnet not yet.

Weather is fabulous, almost as warm as in summer, except for the cool nights. It was 22 degrees today, what more could one want!

And that´s what I found today morning: Our brick mason surely will be delighted when he sees the modifications our outdoor cats have done to the plaster he´s put on our garden wall yesterday. Go Samsung, Sony and Tuxedo! Catwalk!!!
