Jan. 1st, 2020 05:39 pmNew Year´s Eve turned out more entertaining than the last ones. A neighbour showed up with a plate of sandwiches, and we sat and chatted and did dice games till 11 p.m.. Then we packed up more snacks and Prosecco to wander to her house, from where we intended to watch the fire works, just in time to meet up with the old lady, who indeed resolved upon joining our merry bunch. I think it was three in the morning when we finally made it home and into the bed. The four cats were not amused, not because of the loud banging of the New Year rockets but because I totally forgot to feed them at the usual time. There was a lot of meowin, and hissing even, when I dealed out the cat food, Vaire as the only she-cat fighting a losing battle against the way bigger tomcats. She must have gotten only some leftovers, because she sang so nicely before the bedroom door for the rest of the night. Today is packing day, I found two things I will have to buy at the airport, because shops here won´t open before 8 a.m., but at this time we will be on our way to Vienna airport already. I so know now I should have stayed behind, to savour the silence of a practically deserted house. Daughter mine is very quiet, and feeding cats and clearing litter boxes does not bother me. What I do not like is more family stress, more children wreaking havoc and a Romanian christening, where the little ones get submerged in holy water, and three times at that- especially when the child to be baptized has the voice of a slightly throaty opera singer!
