Lockdown 3 extended

Lockdown should have ended on January 17th. Now we got one more week added, and there´s more to come. German lockdown will now last until 31th, but already they plan to continue it. Basti fantasti will follow, he always does, since this one is helplessly and first of all brainlessly navigating through the storm that is called Corona. From model student to laggard - borders wide open, no checkups for planes, second lockdown only halfhearted, third - a hard one this time - following immediately, skiing yes, culture no. Basti openly declared cultural events insignificant. This one is in for a shock, when cultural life and economy blows up in his face. There´s a long list of things gone wrong. Of course, mistakes can happen but should not in such a dire situation. Yet ordering less vaccines per person than the rest of Europe, locking vaccine up in cold stores, plus not starting the campaign because you have forgotten about injection supplies tops all. And in case there´s some vaccination action going on you will see more politicians grin into the camera than vaccinees in the picture. I bet that we´ll be locked away till February, presumably until the end of semester break. As a pensioner I do not care that much, I have my income, we have house and garden, but if I had to work all day long then drive home by crowded train and bus, then sit in a small flat with no one allowed to visit - that would make me go through the roof!
It´s the last day of Christmas season today, and we had a first real snowfall during night. Most of it has melted down, but there´s more to come during night. Our local farmer´s tractor woke me up at four in the morning, and I was not grumpy but happy like a kid knowing that he was ploughing away snow.
Today I noticed that for the first time I did not light the candles on grandpa´s hanukah candle holder. I simply forgot about it. I am not Jewish. And it simply did not feel right. Many things did not feel right this year. Christmas decoration will get stowed away more quickly than usual. It´s no fun to have family in your home for two days only, before everybody has to give relatives a wide berth again!
