Monster pot
Jan. 10th, 2021 06:39 pmNow that son number four is to leave soon he had one last wish: goulash enough he´d be able to freeze one or two portions and take these with him. So he and hubby went grocery shopping yesterday. I did not think much about why they bought two sacks of onions, that makes four kilos of the highly aggressive vegetable. Everybody needs onions every now and then, not that I love those stinky little balls. I mean, when cooked they are palatable. But raw - yuck! And for goulash you need meat and onions fifty-fifty. I estimated to have one kilo of onions to peel and chop, and about one package of tissues for eyes and nose. When hubby brought in the meat I did not believe my eyes - three and a half kilo beef, hence the amount of onions the two had brought home! That´d be a lot of tissues that would be needed, and many a tear would flow! Half an hour of peeling and cutting onions lay ahead of me plus the cutting of the beef. I was so proud that all fitted into my biggest pot. Maybe I should aim for a bigger one in case hubby strives for even more nourishment next time. It took three hours until goulash was ready for consumption, because it has to simmer at low heat. It tasted really good, only the number of bread dumplings that come out of one package of bread cubes has decreased. I now know why. They sell 100gramm less at a higher price. Twelve dumplings instead of fifteen. Pretty sure that Corona is at fault. Corona is at fault for everything that comes with the cpllapse of economy. I think we are taken for idiots...
