Jan. 31st, 2021 11:23 amWe had another full-house day this Sunday. Hubby loves it this way, he needs lots of family, especially in times like these. Since young Cassian is with us twice a week it is not even forbidden. Cassian is hubby´s "best buddy". His father had a best buddy, too, that is why I am not enthusiastic about the whole thing. My father-in-law deliberately forgot about his other grandchildren then. We have four of them, how come I´d favour one? It cannot be helped, because hubby is a very stubborn person. And he did a lot of shopping last week for Super Bowl next Sunday, and pizza almost did not fit into the fridge anymore. We have three fridges and one freezer, and all are bursting at the seams. So I was told off to cook today´s lunch. Hubby took out two bags of chicken thighs. I dislike chicken thighs, so I needed a recipe which was tasty at least. The little one does not like hot food, so no Indian recipe. Coq au vin is not hot but has wine in it, but it´s super easy to do. Wine is not for children, this I know. That´s why I marinated chicken thighs with a dram of red wine and replaced the missing rest by tomato paste, to bring a bit of colour into the gravy. It tasted fairly good, but next time I will do this dish sans little ones partaking. For once there´s enough wine for hubby and me to drink in the evening!
Weather has been exceptionally warm this week. All that snow has practically melted away. I was finally able to leave the window in the sleeping room ajar. You´ll laugh, but I sleep way better with the sound of traffic outside, seems it is lulling me to sleep. Got woken by the sound of my mobile bleeping at seven thirty in the morning. Turned out that number three had sent me a photo of Elsa and himself at the playground. 7:30 and up and running, on a carousel, with a lot of snow! Wait! A lot of snow? I tiptoed to the balcony window. Darn it, snow again! Good thing is the fluffy white will thaw away quickly. We do not need more snow this year. With our luck we will get even more skiing tourists from foreign countries than we have already. All of them either second home owners, commercial travellers or ongoing skiing instructors. Only an idiot would buy that. By the way, out of the 152 foreigners attending the course 90 have been tested Covid positive. That´s what you get when you do too much partying!
