Mar. 29th, 2021 12:22 pmI have knitted a short dress for Elsa, one she can wear with her beloved leggings. Be it winter, be it hot days in summer, that girl is hell-bent on wearing those sloppy imitations of trousers all year long. I have quite a lot of photos put in a special folder which I will show her when she is older as a sort of revenge, because the nice dresses mostly were gifts from me: Elsa in pretty dresses, her legs clad in, you know already, battered leggings. Yesterday I intended to close the seams on the shoulders when Cassian and family popped in out of the blue. Today I wanted to finally get this work done, so I made myself comfortable in my throne chair, to use the light of the sun to finish the dress, because I really, really cannot work with artificial light. As if! The moment I picked dress and needle up our doorbell rang, and in came Xaver and Oscar. When they finally left the sun was already behind the hills. Dress will have to wait.
In the morning daughter and I did a trip to Salzburg, to stock up on Asian Food. We had a lot of things to buy - I will have to show daughter-in-law number two how to do a proper Ramen bowl, and daughter dearest wants to do Tteokbokki this week- but save that we did only get two thirds of the things we needed we are now proud owners of half a kilo of gochugaru, because no one here sells smaller sachets. Oh dear, that means I will have to make a lot of kimchi! Daughter will be delighted, me not so much. It´s not that I dislike kimchi, but I cannot stomach it. Comes back in no time... I also found out two more things: Prices of Asian foodstuff have gone through the roof, way worse than those of local products, and there´s apparently a massive problem with import. At first I thought that maybe my favourite shop might go out of business, but when I tried the next Asia shop around the corner and then one about half a kilometre away, and all of them could not provide what I needed, I knew that there has to be something cooking, and it´s not because Ever Given has run aground with all those missing items.
I did a short inspection round in the garden, and yes, it is as I had already feared. The new grapevines and the quincetree as well as the ginkgo have died during the return of winter. I am not sure if I will look for replacement. For the quincetree, maybe, because this one has been doing so nicely last year, but the grapevines and the ginkgo...there are better ways to spend money!
