If I did not have a visit from an old friend of mine today who reminded me that I definitely was not able to do a trip to the garden center tomorrow I would not even have noticed it is Saturday again. Oh my, time does fly! I had to improvise a bit this time, preparing a light dinner only when usually I do the full program with starter, main course and dessert. We both love cooking and often try new recipes when visiting each other. Fortunately I had sent hubby to do the big shopping yesterday evening. Hubby was not amused that my friend came for a visit because he is really, really overcautious when it comes to Covid and guests in our house, then again I wish he´d have the same attitude when shopping. Must have been sheer hell yesterday, shops overrun by buyers, and he in the thick of it, as always. My friends lets herself getting tested twice a week, to be on the safe side when she is with her daughter and the grandchildren, who are presently not attending kindergarten, to not have Covid in the house all of a sudden. And she came, because she finally got a late birthday present for me. She had gifted me a coupon for a dinner in my favourite restaurant last summer, but with gastronomy closed since October and no opening date within sight she found another present to bridge the waiting period: a folding step stool which now enables me to get to the upper shelves in the kitchen. I have to admit that I have shrinked quite a lot over the years. Hubby bought me a step ladder once which I used a few times at the most. That thing was atrocious. I always hit my shins, had a hard time to fold it up, and it was so big that I had to stow it in our cellar. Step stool is tiny in comparison, just high enough for me to get to the upper shelves, and seriously, do I have to clean the top sides of the shelves myself, when I have a husband that tall? One who is bored all the time? This one needs more chores to not be bored to death!
Just in time weather turned from warm and sunny to cool and rainy. It´s a real shame, because one of the few things people here are still allowed to do is attend religious ceremonies like processions on Palm Sunday. Outdoors, of course, because, you know, Covid is looming on every occasion. And since it´s mostly older people attending religious feasts it is too dangerous to transfer the procession into the church, as it was done the years before Covid hit us so hard. So no processions and only a few people admitted into church. A great pity, because I wanted to take Cassian there! You can only hope that situation will change for the better until next year!
