Another holiday
Jun. 3rd, 2021 04:11 pmIt is Corpus Christi day today, a Roman Catholic holiday in our country. When I was in elementary school I hated this day, because on the evening before my sister and I got delivered at my grandmother, who would curl our hair with the help of beer and hair rollers then put us in a white dress, for us to join the local girls in the procession. Two hours following a monstrance was certainly not what the both of us had wanted on a free day! When I was nine it was the last time we had to partake, because from then on my mother's believe in Christianity had dwindled rapidly. She had just lost our brother-to-be to God's will, and she did mot take this betrayal lightly. I found a single foto of her when pregnant, means she must have burned all others. There must have been more, because my father had been a notorious photographer at that time.
So when I woke to canon salutes at six in the morning I thought that maybe one of the neighbouring rectorates had circumvented Corona rules and did a procession, because here local marksmen´s guilds are always present at such processions. But when I went over the informations in the WWW, I found that all of them had been cancelled. So maybe there was a country wedding, not exactly legal but who cares! What mattered was that I was wide awake then.
These days a lot of people wonder why they have to pay for the things our government has bungled. And the show goes on, no more Vaxcevria gets vaccinated, but since we do not have enough of the other vaccines the whole process gets unnecessarily prolonged. Hubby sees it right, I think. He wants to do as much of sightseeing as possible during summer, because in autumn the whole misery will start again, and we will get locked up in the house once more. And since we will have to entertain Cassian the whole of June we will need a break anyway. Number four and five will take care of the cats during the days we will be off, because, no kidding- it will take until October until the part of the population who is willing to have a stab will get it- the first one. Unfortunately this is also the time when those who had two stabs will already need a booster shot. Then there are those who got vaccinated abroad, because companies needed their staff able to work in other countries. Our government rejoiced, because those vaccines had not to be paid for by them. No one found fault with the procedure done with Sputnik mostly, but soon after Sputnik fell from the list of vaccines in the green pass, so the vaccination will have been in vain for those who work abroad- hence they need another, this time valid vaccination to be able to get out of the country without constant testing. I think I will have to take a jump into the pool to cool down a bit, and it is not because it is a hot 28 outside...
