Barbapapa is no more
Jul. 24th, 2021 06:25 pmDaughter mine bemoans the death of her beloved Barbapapa, one of her best friends when she was young. She bemoans that it was she who had caused his end, and even more that she had to remove his innards, thousands and thousands of tiny balls of styrofoam, from her bed. And the hallway. And the staircase, after she had dropped what was left over of her childhood friend. His death had been an accident. Since it had been quite warm yesterday and daughter came back from work around midnight she did not want to search for the remote of the aircon but opened the dormer window instead, where Barbapapa was listening to every snore she did during night. The sharp end of the window brought instant death to her old friend, and his guts got strewn all over her bed and the carpet. Fortunately hubby had had a beer in the evening aka sleep-inducing drug, or the sounds of the vacuum cleaner running at one in the morning would have interupted his loud snoring. Son and I helped out with the cleaning and the ensuing burial ceremony in the dustbin.
Today was the first and last hot day of the week here, from now on temperatures will be down to the obligatory twenty and a bit degrees, which is not a summer temperature for me, but it can´t be helped- since we have Corona, normal life has died and summer weather, too. Knowing that there´ll be a lot of rain next week we got overrun by grandchildren and some very nervous parents, who want their children have fun in the pool yet think that they are in constant danger of drowning before the very eyes of seven adults who watch every step the little ones do like hawkes. Now hubby is bringing Cassian back home to his father, and I rejoice at the silence. No one at home but me. Wow! I love it!
