Too much work today

 

I thought I´d have a grandchild-free day today, alas, hubby decided to help number two, who for some mysterious reason has a work-free day all of a sudden, with repair work, then all of them will show up for coffee. So I had to bake, and that´s what I cannot do the way most people can. No matter how hard I try my cakes always look strange. Just so today, even though this one came out of the oven looking perfect, but does no more, since Vaire cat thought she´d found a nice warm place for napping. She has done this stunt more than once, but I swear I was out of the kitchen for a minute only. At least I had put a kitchen towel over the cake, so no cat hair on it, or I´d have to throw it into the bin! There will be more guests than expected, so I have to prepare more snacks. We will have smoked salmon on toast, crackers with shrimps and bread with selfmade bacon. Everything has to be ready at five in the afternoon, because daughter has to leave at 5:30 and is a salmon-shrimps fan. Son will have to do his own dinner, he eats neither salmon nor shrimps nor bacon. And I am still tired, because daughter had to get picked up a quarter to 12. We were back home half an hour later, because there was so much traffic in the area- and at such a time at that! Another seemingly endless percussion performance done by a very arrogant yet celebrated artist...
