Jan. 2nd, 2022 06:35 pmFamily number three left at ten in the morning, and until now none of us is very sad about it. The tale of the two princesses had continued over the weekend, for instance Elsa turning off the news on TV without even asking so that she could watch children´s channel, and reaching its culminating point at today´s breakfast, so that even hubby had enough of the theatralic throw-ins and decided to give daughter-in-law a piece of his mind, as gentle as possible, but nonetheless. That happened after she had done the thing with the boiled eggs which weren´t to her liking (she had had two to chose from, ate half of each then decided she did not like them- one too hard, the other too soft), had eaten the whole package of my truffled mortadella (hubby had searched long and hard to get me some, it´s my favourite) then took the last two of the avacodaos (I was supposed to do guacamole to accompany Mexican dinner) without asking, sliced them into small pieces yet never ate any but let them turn grey and unappetising, and all the while princess Elsa was watching her children´s program so loud that conversation at the breakfast table was neigh impossible. I think hubby talked about waste of groceries which upset princess number one quite a lot. Being pregnant must be one hell of a challenge for her. I wish son luck for the rest of her gestation. Oh, I forgot that I will see how this proceeds, they´ll be back in February...
Now that all is pretty quiet again (save for the notorious neighbours who always have to work in the garden on Sundays) husband is bored beyond belief and wanders around, hammer at hand. Just now he is plotting a way to secure our greandson´s night´s rest by creating a dark room. I´d say he better plot in the furniture store and buy the Venetian blinds I always wanted but he himself thought non-essential.
Tomorrow a friend of ours will be here for coffee- finally some change of the daily routine. It´s always fun to have a talk about the good old times!
People here begin to worry about the educational situation. Minister of education has added an additional free day to the Christmas break, and children will only be back to school from Monday on. I´d say that it´s about time to cut the holidays shorter than usual and do some online teaching for a week or so instead of having our youngsters hang around doing computer games. Better catch up on what got neglected for so long (two years almost). Enough of additional free days in the name of Covid! Those students who reported to not have a laptop at home got one for free (and some sold it on Ebay), so no more excuses, or education will go down the pan! Sorry, I had to say that!
