The things I find...
Jan. 27th, 2022 07:10 pmI went down to the cellar for some bacon but, to hubby´s dismay, came back with a mirror I had once brought it home from a fleamarket, and husband dearest had thought he´d hidden it well enough for me to forget about it. I had indeed forgotten about it, but since husband was out doing grocery shopping and I wanted to prepare lunch early, I had to go down myself and have a look what was available in the storeroom- and it´s mirrors! Daughter helped me drag it to the studio and found the new one more stylish. So poor husband had to install the new old mirror in the afternoon. That´s when it got hubbyish: half an hour looking for drills, hooks and dowels, four holes in the wall instead of two, and the mirror is still crooked. But it´s installed absolutely secure, which is good, because it´s more than twice as heavy as the old one, and people sleeping on the sofa are supposed to survive their nap. Still not sure if I want to keep it. If not, there´s always the other one stored in the cellar, and the hooks for it are still here.
I started with the baby blanket by doing two trial rectangles with letters in two different colours. And ended up with two different measures. Same count of rows. Same number of stitches. Same brand of wool. The orange one is one centimetre more in length and width than the pink one, which is quite impressive if you consider that the first, pink, rectangle is 10 to 14. Might be fun when I have to sew together all those pieces!
To my and daughter´s horror son number three will come for a visit next weekend- with his family, of course. Not good, because daughter wanted to celebrate her birthday with her friends in our house this time. Gastronomy closes at ten in the evening. Hotel Mama has no closing time. Since it will be the time of semester break, she hopes her friends will put up with the new date one week later. And they better get tested before the party!
