Big Bang, literally

Yesterday ended with a veritable thunderstorm. We already had had four of it during day. I finally went to bed, sweaty and tired, to get some sleep, before the alarm went off again- one hour later than the days before, but still too early to my liking. I think I was in bed for half an hour, already walking between sleep and wakefulness, when all of a sudden all hell was let loose outside. Storm, heavy rain, and most of all thunder and lightning. So the warnings of insurance had been all for nothing- I got a heat warning at midday (the most we got was 21 degrees, that´s why Cassian was so reluctant to take a bath in the pool) and warning of thunderstorms between 5 and seven PM. They deliberately forgot about the big one after ten in the evening. Better not startle people who might be in bed already. Well, those extreme thunderclaps woke them anyway! I did a quick room tour on the upper floor, to close the windows, or I'd have to wipe up water that made it into the house. Hubby did the same downstairs. And then I waited. And waited. And waited some more for sleep to get back to me. It was still raining, when I left, and did so just before six o´clock, when it stopped, to let us listen to the planes which thundered over our house, one after another. There´s a lot of air traffic going on on Saturdays, when the motor traffic is low. Blimey again!
There´ll be no strawberries for us this year. I bought a huge hanging basket with strawberry plants, which began to turn brown soon after I´d hung the basket next to hubby´s tomatos. I now know why- husband dearest does water this part of the garden, and because water came out of the basket he thought the soil was too wet. Unfortunately, the soil was so dry that it could not hold any of the water. Did I say blimey already? I will put the remaining strawberry plants into the last wooden crate that did survive our wet winters and hope for the best next year.
Now it´s out of the joggers and into my jeans. Sister and I will meet up at five. I´d love to stay at home and have a nap before I go to sleep (I always sleep better, when I go to bed well-rested instead of sleep-deprived), but family comes first!
