Oscar night started as usual, with hubby deliberately not going to bed at 10.30, as he does every other evening, except for Super Bowl night. He watched his beloved Tatort then found another detective film, which we had already seen, and stayed up until half past eleven, which left one and half an hour of sleeping time for me- not enough to get rested, so I decided to forgo resting and turned the TV on again. I watched until five in the morning, before I dragged myself to bed. Most of the time I was indeed watching from the sofa, a very uncomfortable place to lie on. At three in the morning my back was killing me, and I dragged my sorry self into the bathroom to get me some pills. And, of course, there was the cat, which staggered to the water bowl and back to the litter box all night long. Vaire is not well, no going back now. She has been relatively okay the weeks before, but now she has stopped being well. She´s not in pain, that´s why she is still here. Daughter is back here again, it´s her cat after all!
After a night with next to no sleep - I got up at eight in the morning - I always feel like a zombie! And it will get worse tomorrow- it always takes two days until I get back to normal. Oh the joys of getting old! Having a child implies not enough sleep for a time. Having five children multiplies the nights without sleep, but I never felt the effects so noticeably! Good thing is that my friends all know how besotted I am with Oscar Night, even though I do not make it into cinemas as often as I´d like to. They won´t disturb my zombiness by calling or, God forbid, by standing in front of my door. Sad thing is that once we had been to cinemas regularly. Another thing covid has done to us- I turned into a scaredy cat but got back to normal, while my friends did not- but it´s no fun to go to the cinema alone!
