Strange new world
Jun. 30th, 2023 06:37 pm Got up late, because there were so many interesting video clips on Youtube to watch. Hubby was off grocery shopping (he did not even get all things on the shopping list, as is the new fashion) and helping a friend out after breakfast, while I did some housework. Boy, this was such a strange weather we had, cloudy but sweltering! Around midday the winds got stronger and cooler and indicated the oncoming cold front. After today´s lunch- it was another ´raid the fridge of things expiring´ day- I decided to skip my after-lunch nap and start with knitting the octopus of pain instead. Octopus of pain indeed, because I managed to pick up the metal lid of the jar with wild garlic pesto, which hubby had accidentally put onto the burner, where I just had done sauce. Ouch and owie, I now have two big blisters on the tip of the fingers of my left hand. But this pain is bearable, while the pain of having to unravel every second row, because I did not count correctly, is worse. When I cut the wrong thread by mistake I gave up for the day. Next try: Sunday. Hubby decided that we will to Graz tomorrow. And we will take the A-road instead of the motorway. Hubby has booked three seats at a Vietnamese restaurant at one in the afternoon. I hope we will have made it to Graz by then- school holidays have started in Vienna and Lower Austria. Who knows where people will travel this year, when all complain about the lack of money. Holidays in the own country might turn out a very expensive experience! Besides, the weather is definitely not stable this year. And who wants to travel to mountainous districts, when all you will see is mist covering the peeks! Anyway, car is packed already, and DiL number one was too late with sending me the list of things she needs from good old Germany. I do not do shopping trips with a car packed with tools and shelves. This trip I will have to do on Monday! I had a look onto the list and found that quite a few items are only available in small numbers in the shops. Welcome to the new world of shopping, which reminds me of the not so good old times, where articles often were spare and hard to get! Apparently that´s what is wanted again!
Today´s the last day- we are finally done with Covid, at least I hope so. No more pandemic from tomorrow on. No masks. No quarantine. Tests will still be free, but no more mandatory. Yay! Now let´s see how long this will hold!
