Oktoberfest

 

Octoberfest was fun, even though Cassian decided to fall ill the evening before. Poor guy did not eat much but slept a lot on the sofa, huddled in four blankets, while the rest of the guests wandered into the garden and back in during eating. Weather was just fine, not too cold and not too hot. We had too much food to eat, but what's left of weisswurst and leberkäs will get eaten for lunch tomorrow. Hubby will only have to buy fresh pretzels in the bakery. Potato salad (direct quote hubby : we don't need it, there's bread aplenty) and chicken drumsticks are gone. Never saw Oscar eat such a lot of meat. I had two glasses of beer, which is never a good idea. Beer sorta works like a sedative with me. I felt the need for having a nice rest on the sofa but couldn't follow the call. Soon after the men (Oscar included) were discussing the use of the beamer number two had bought for the exhibition, and where to install it in the room, while four females (three elderly ladies plus a professional daughter) did shell the nuts DiL had brought with her, with said DiL watching the procedure with Flavius on her knees. DiLs don't crack nuts, their nails might chip!
In the late afternoon all people finally were on their way back home. DiL I sent home with my brand new garden magazines. She loves reading them, besides, reading keeps her from starting unwanted activities in the bathroom not yet ready for taking showers- the brandnew and quite expensive shower tray had been in for one day, when son found a hairline crack. Tiler has to remove one row of tiles, so that the shower tray can be replaced with a new one.
Buy two, get one free- DiL talked hubby into taking our grandchildren three times this week. So Monday-Thursday- Friday we will get them the coming week. The next one, too. The week after next also. Wish me luck, please!
