Advice, please?
Oct. 8th, 2023 06:00 pm I am pretty sure you will know this situation- you sit with friends, (almost) all have a glass of wine, you have fun and talk a lot, and when you finally want to take a sip of the wine at least one tiny fly is paddling in your glass. Those flies seem to love wine the way Cleopatra loved milk. At the moment I have lots of the tiny beasts in the kitchen area. I don´t know where they come from- only one plant in the living area (an orchid sparsely watered), all organic waste gets brought to the bin outside since two weeks. I disinfected the drain of the sink (drain flies?). Tips like vinegar combined with fruit juice did not work. So I put some wine into a glass next to the sink and waited. And waited some more. Nothing. Absolutely no fly trying for swimming lessons. My flies don't want to take a bath during day. That changed when I poured myself a glass in the evening- bingo! Three flies caught! And I needed a new glass of wine for myself then. Might be a costly affair, if I pour one glass for me and one for the flies each evening! Maybe there are other tips I can try?
Nothing of importance got done today. Not even hubby wanted out into the garden- it was a cool, rainy day by way of variety. Why those cool rainy days mostly happen on weekends, when lots of people have no work to do, only God knows. So we did the morning routine then stayed at home, did jigsaw, had coffee, did more jigsaw puzzling. I finally finished the sleeves of the jumpers for the youngest, did seam them together and darned in. Tomorrow: do the collar of both jumpers. Darn in more threads.
Kitchen war is still ongoing: After today´s breakfast I foundf a pork fillet and dried fungi on the kitchen counter for me to cook for lunch. Just you wait, hubby dearest! One more stunt like this one, and there will be no cooking for you at all. Make yourself a ham-cheese toast, I am off to the new Indian restaurant together with daughter mine. Which reminds me that I will have to contact my sister- she will be in town next weekend, and we are to have our birthday dinner according to the motto better late than never. This time it´s my turn to pay, and I am the one who will select the restaurant. If we even make it there- still no new instructions from family number two. Those will come via Whatsapp the day before we will be needed for grandchildren duty, at ten in the evening. At the earliest. Hubby and I are used to this proceeding, other people say that it´s a sign that some people must think the two of us do not need a life of our own. Maybe they are right...
