Sausage wars

It was a very uneventful day at first- the usual housework to do, a bit of cooking, which has turned into a tedious affair. Hubby has crammed our fridge full with things he likes, which ends up with me having to cook Austrian style- boring! It will continue this way- I just found freshly bought Spätzle and even more sausages. And I thought I had finally killed the last ones today, but no... At least the last of the potatoes are gone! I turned my PC on and went straight to Cookrate, and what did I find- lots of cauliflower recipes. Others, too, but not the ones I´d need to pep sausages up Indian or at least Chinese style, because that´s what I like to eat. In the fridge in the cellar we still have Weißwürste, which need instant processing this upcoming week. Hubby thinks I will cook them! Ha! I found a recipe for Weißwurstgulasch, a sacrilege commited against Bavarian (and hubby´s) eating habits! Serves him well! The older hubby gets the more he tends to the way of cooking his mother has done. Those recipes he brings forth haven´t been done by me, that´s noticeable. Our family has done a lot of eating in restaurants because of my mum´s cooking skills. Sister and I had our different ways to cope with mum´s shortcoming- I learned to cook with the help of an Indian friend, my sister married a man who still does excellent cooking, even though he´s almost eighty now.
Both hubby and I had a long after-lunch nap. While he cycled to the DIY market for felt slides I continued with the jigsaw. That´s so typical for my daughter- she wants to do a new puzzle, and then she´s off, and the conservatory is full of small pots and big pots with puzzle pieces! All of a sudden all hell was let loose outside- idiot neighbour must have laid hand on his grandson, and his son was not amused, and neither were daughter-in-law and the rest of the family. Clamour, scramble, the call for police- honestly, I do not know how I would have reacted had my father beaten my children. Now it´s quiet again, squabblers are back to their housings. But after such a humiliation idiot number one will be up wreaking havoc early in the morning...
Number four wanted to come back home for a visit today but didn´t. If you want to cross our country from North to South (and vice versa) you will find a veritable problem on the route- restoration work in all tunnels. Estimated duration is two years. Often the crossing lasts more than two hours longer than usual. Cool, Austrian Federal railway thought, let´s try the same with the passenger trains! Son did not get a non-stop train from Graz to Salzburg. Most of the trains got redirected to Vienna then to Salzburg- from three hours forty minutes to six hours travelling time in the space of a week. Totally not funny!
