Squeak!

Today I woke shortly after five in the morning to some strange noises in the garden. Not our garden, of course. And it was not the sound of strong winds doing havoc with some metallic items because there was not the tiniest bit of wind to hear. I silently wandered to the bathroom, only to find that both of my glasses were next to my bed. I only saw a shadow scampering in the shadows of the night, recognisable only because the older twin son had his light already on and prepared for work. Or was no more able to sleep because of daddy scampering. I returned to bed and activated the Kindle reader, until it was time to get up, so mission accomplished for idiot neighbour!

When I decided to do the Celtic throw instead of cross stitching another pillowcase with Christmassy motifs, I needed to buy wool, and I needed crochet hooks- the thickest I have are size five, but I needed six and seven. The new ones I bought are made of plastic, super light and super annoying. Go through the loop- squeak. Draw back- squeak. Now squeaking sounds belong to the less favourite ones I want to hear- I had two sets of nightguards, because I could not stand the squeaky sounds my teeth made when I was grinding them. One pair I lost, the second one I almost choked on, when my grinding teeth made them come loose. When starting to crochet today, I immediately realised what I forgot to buy in the wool shop- new, un-squeaky crochet hooks. So I have to be brave until next week, when I will do the trip to the wool shop with a friend. I found a replacement for macrame yarn for crafting- a box full of felting yarn I had completely forgotten about. The things I find when Cassian is 'exploring' the studio! Yes, we had grandchildren duty today. And it was fun- hubby had bought Halloween noodles, and eating ghosts and bats and the like made the boys forget that they had not wanted noodles at all. Cassian had a two-hour after-lunch nap. He fell asleep while telling me that he was so glad he had to 'rest' for half an hour only. Afterwards we crafted two ghosts using bed sheets and styrofoam balls and decorated them with black eyes and hands and quite a few droplets of blood, when I stabbed needles in my fingers, and twice at that. But the ghosts look impressive at their place in front of the glass doors to terrace and conservatory. Alas, they will be wandering ghosts, their presence dimming the dim light of autumn even more.

We were lucky, the storm hit our country, but not in the place we live. While two people already lost their life, there's not the slightest puff of wind to be felt outside here. But if you look up to the sky, you can see how fast the clouds wander. Glad that we live at the bottom of a valley and not up the mountains, where the real 'fun' takes place!
