Planning disaster
Nov. 13th, 2023 05:59 pm Example number one: Husband mine has bought a cabinet and a medicine cabinet for number four's flat in Graz. Planned date of delivery: Saturday this week. Son number three sent an invitation for Elsa's name day celebration on Sunday. I wanted to go there, because I do not want to anger DiL more than I did already. She is a big fan of name days. Only that my car will be in Graz, because hubby intends to stay overnight and do a bit of sightseeing on Sunday. Booked a room for himself and me even. He still can cancel the booking and sleep at son's flat- big enough for two, but definitely not for three. And my car still will be off, so we had to cancel the invitation and have to let DiL simmer.
Example number two: Hubby got a reminder that today is the day of service on our gas heating. Between ten and twelve, that´s what he told me. He made an appointment at the car repair shop, too. Changing of tyres, inspection of the trailer. My car at 12:30, his car two hours later. When I came down from the studio yesterday evening for daily crime time TV, he nonchalantly told me that DiL number three would bring her youngest at twelve next day, because Cassian has a date with the eye doctor. This she could have told us on Saturday, but forgot about it. A real bad cold, I'd say. Or frozen brain cells... Anyway, when hubby got up today, he suddenly noticed that service work on the heating was supposed to happen between twelve and three in the afternoon. Great, just great! And I am at home alone with a renitent toddler, who will howl along, because neither mummy, brother and granddad are here. And bringing him to bed is no option, because I can't let wander a stranger around in the house.
My planning is not the best, either. For instance, I decided to shake the trees, when it was raining- not much, more of a drizzle, but enough to get wet. Shaking trees takes its time, when you want to get rid of as many leaves as possible. Had I read the weather forecast, I would have known that the next day was supposed to be a windy one- and it was! So my cold did not get any better but had found another reason to flare up again. Cold: one point. Me: zero. Next thing- hubby stripped the goose of all remaining meat, but I did not tell him that the remains were to go into the hot and sour soup we have kept in the fridge for today's lunch. So hubby happily munched along, with the result that next to no meat will end up in the soup, and I will have gained about another kilo by watching hubby munch along... so very unfair! But in the end it wasn't that bad. DiL showed up at 12:30, because eye doctor date is at 2:30. I fed the boys, Flavius slept in the guestroom, and hubby and serviceman came at the same time. Both were be off pretty soon, so that I was able recover a bit.
Tomorrow it will be a trip to two garden centres in Germany then on to the shopping centre with my favourite cashier. If she's there, we will try our luck and see, if more unexpected things will happen on our bills...
