First of May...
May. 1st, 2024 07:41 pm ...is the day, when all idiot neighbours are out of the house early in the morning, preparing for their rowdy guests. In the afternoon we had three parties running. Neighbour number one, the most idiotic one, was out for quarrel, and we did hear a lot of shouting coming from this party. Neighbour number two´s guests did not quarrel but drink, and soon there´d be the sounds of didgeridoos, which meant that the critical level of inebriation had already been passed. Neighbour number three had some grilling going on at the front of his house, which meant that he had to contain the Rhodesian ridgeback to the backside of the house, because it´s not the nicest dog he has. No alcohol-related disturbances there, but a lot of howling and barking from the dog.
Hubby took his bike and rode to the maypole party at number two´s village, where he met up with family number two and daughter mine. Needless to say that I had no interest in seeing them again- all four were at our house yesterday evening. I grabbed a can of alcohol-free radler and continued with the jigsaw. Now that husband is back home I went up to the studio, to finally turn my PC on. Until now it had been to warm to do so- outside the sun has been burning down all day long, and temperatures went up to 28 degrees, with foehn still howling. I had to water the plants in the conservatory twice, because it was so hot in there!
BTW: Even though those times with rowdy feasts in our house are long gone, there´s still the two wooden signs a friend of our number two made for us in a drawer in the cellar. First one saysMordor 1- that one was made for the loo on the groundfloor. The second says Frodo 15432 2, leading the guests to the upper bathroom. We always use names based on books or movies. For example- today we slept in the Shrieking Shack, a cottage out of the Potter universe. Our house was shrieking, indeed, and did so all night long with the foehn storm and some of the windows tilted because of the high temperatures inside! I know this makes more sense when using the German translation, which is Heulende Hütte. T´was indeed a scenario creating nightmares!
