Just my luck
May. 4th, 2024 06:53 pm My stomachache, induced by the heavy use of painkillers during the hefty foehn season, was annoying me. So I decided to take stomach gel and skip breakfast. You know, gel comes in those small sachets you have to tear open then suck the content. Well, it did not exactly work this way, I had to cut it open, suck the content, and when I removed the sachet from my mouth I cut my bottom lip open, and not only a bit! I so love the taste of blood, and believe me, that thing bled a lot and for quite a time! At least my stomach seems to behave now! Hubby bought asparagus for lunch, and while peeling I pondered how a kitchen hand must feel during asparagus season- my hands hurt quite profoundly after peeling a kilo of the vegetable! Then I had a look at Amazon, where they sell asparagus peelers that can make one pound a minute- and those aren´t even expensive! I will have to ask daughter dearest to order one, because, you know, still no Amazon for me! Hubby wanted chicken filet with the asparagus, and garlic bread as side dish. We had lunch early, hubby ate most of the meat while I had more asparagus, which is worse than chicken if you suffer from gout.
Tomorrow hubby will be off before six in the morning- first by the early morning bus to the train station, then to Vienna by train. I am still mad, because he did not decline DiL´s invitation for Easter, even though I asked him to do so. But no- he practically confirmed that I´d be delighted to join them, since he himself was not able to. He still won´t get that with each invitation for a family lunch-dinner there will promptly come a date when we have to watch over this family´s offspring! Daughter just sent me a message that I better contact son number two, to ask him which meat we will have for grilling- neither she nor I will eat lamb, but DiL loves it for Easter. If there´s lamb only, we will bring salsiccia, the spicy one, for the two of us. Then there will be the horrible (to me!) lamb liver pâté for starter. I think I am free to say that tomorrow will be a trying day instead of the wonderful family-free day I had expected!
