Strange manners
Jun. 24th, 2024 08:09 pm Our "sensational" neighbours lived up to their reputation- the one with the many cats and dogs showed up at the top of her circular stair at two in the morning and called for whatever one she was missing for at least a quarter of an hour while rattling the box with the cat goodies. I was so close to tear the window open and tell her off! Only the idea of waking the sleeping vice-major straight opposite our bedroom window kept me from doing so. She is a nice lady, but values a good night´s rest, as would I- if they only would let me sleep. Then idiot neighbour, who is back from health cure, began to saw at seven in the morning, so no sleeping in was possible also. Ah well, nothing better than an early breakfast on the terrace!
Some of the visiting guests are also strange. Today one of husband´s former colleagues came over. Good that she forgot to take her dog with her, because it´s a very ill-behaved one. One cat badly hurt and quite a lot of smashed coffee cups were caused by the unruly lady dog. The problem was- this colleague came at ten for a short visit and left at half past one in the afternoon. I served coffee twice. Hubby served cake- twice, again. At some point I went upstairs to do housework. I did not want to listen to all the gossiping about colleagues. Later I showed them the cover of my newest puzzle- harmonic orchestral break. Ha! An impossibility, she and hubby agreed. Musicians do use their elbows more often than other people. And gossiping must be their favourite pastime. With hubby making his modest contribution to the rumours I spent a lot of time with skinning the chicken drumsticks. I hate this job, and there were so many! Spiced the meat, cooked rice, mixed a sauce- and hoped, that hubby would not invite colleague for lunch. Well, he didn´t. Maybe he had noticed the approaching thunder clouds in our kitchen...
Hubby and I lunched, had a nap, did some swimming, then daughter arrived for a very late lunch. We had nonalcoholic radler on the terrace- early this time, because this beverage makes one run to the loo quite often, which is an absolute no-go, when you have to go to bed early because of early shift. Afterwards daughter and I listened to classical music while watching video clips on my PC. At the moment I am going through Beethoven´s symphonies. Love them all, though my favourite is the Pastorale. Daughter is to bed now, I will dutifully watch 45 minutes of daily crime time story, before football will take over and I will take off to bed...
