Productive day

Even though I did not sleep well- too warm in the bedroom, a massive thunderstorm setting in when I was falling asleep- I got up in time to bring daughter mine to work. Turned out that I had missed the best part of the thunderstorm, when Lil and hubby ran like headless chickens to close all the open windows in the house and bolt the garage door in an attempt to keep the strong winds and the rain out. After breakfast hubby started project apricot jam. First thing was buying gelling sugar- you cannot do three kilos jam without it, most of it would turn bad. Tell that DiL next time, before she buys quantities of apricots and leaves for vacation the following day- unless she will want to stay at home and eat a jar a day. Fortunately we still had empty jars aplenty to fill. The rest of the apricots (more than a kilo, even though hubby had gifted a kilo to Florence, son´s tenant) and leftover peaches I made into Röster, adding the raspberries number three had stored in the fridge in the cellar (and promptly forgot about them). I call it canning summer, hubby calls it waste of space in the freezer (he prefers jam, which I do not like at all). After that I began to cut tomatoes into small pieces (for guacamole and to put it into wraps) and did yogurt with strawberries for dessert- more cutting, I so love it! Then we had a nice time in the garden, mostly in the pool, because we have to make good use of warm periods without rain this summer. When I began to nap at the outdoor table I went up to the bedroom to do a bit of reading instead- and dozed off for more than one hour. When I woke the next thunderstormn was on its way. I helped hubby to clear the outdoor table, quickly watered the vegetables (hubby had the splendid idea to put all of the plants onto the sunny side of the car port, where they are protected against rain, of which we have plenty this year. Then I waited. I did not have to wait long for rain making it through the rooftop window. Maybe it was because it was less rain but more cloudburst...
Hubby took off to son´s house then, to store and feed the cats and bring more food DiL bought at the last moment, knowing that she´d be off the next day. I know there will be a whole water melon to process- I hate water melon! Maybe I will do a smoothie, but then I will have to remove the seeds first. What a boring job! While hubby was off I turned my PC on and promptly found some doable tutorials for knit felted shopping bags- I have rediscovered another long-lost box with wool for knit felting. This time I won´t give the wool away- the colours are quite pretty, and shopping bags (no plastic ones!) are on my wish list!
