Duh!

Today is sister´s birthday, and she loves to talk to me on her birthday. Today she called at seven in the morning, because at nine she had to accompany her husband to the hospital, to meet up with his surgeon. B(r)other-in-law needs a hip implant and has to have the procedure done before the family will end up in Salzburg, which means that he is in a tight spot now, with surgery and rehab and all. I feared husband mine might throttle me, when my mobile went off at such an early time! Then again, we made it out of the bed early, and hubby was off to the bicycle repair shop soon after. Good, more time for me to continue with the books I am currently reading. Of course, housework first...
When I tell husband mine that something is wrong with the pool water he better believe me. And not sit in the sun slumbering along, because that will end with a Rudolph nose, and this red nose will burn and itch. I have some experience in this field! When at my second pool round I almost fell into the water, because the stairs were strangely slippery, hubby finally reacted and climbed down into the technic room. And boom, saltmaster is not working properly. Hubby has no clue if that darn thing is on its way dying off or if it only needs another round of descaling. Hubby is worried- such a gadget is rather expensive! But one has to accept the fact that such things aren´t made for eternity. What really upsets me is that hubby never bemoans when his red bike needs another repair or new tyres or whatever...
When typing this entry I noticed that the sun is slipping behind the mountain range almost one hour earlier that at midsummer time. Hate that fact, even though I now won´t have to drop the roller blinds to see what I am typing! Nevertheless we made it up to 28 degrees. What a hellish temperature for people like my daughter! Then again, an Irish redhead must be incredibly envious seeing daughter´s milky-white skin. I do not know how she does it- when she was little, she loved the sun and the sea (and the butterflies and all the creatures she now fears). Her skin was tan, her hair a light blond. Now it´s more a reddish brown, and if daughter has to go out into the sun she wears dark sun glasses and a sun blocker. I think I have unwittingly been raising a vegetarian half-vampire...
