Now, at the end of September, we have to keep the lights on on rainy days- all day long! It´s sort of depressing, because I hate the ceiling lamps hubby has installed with their unnatural brightness. There have been remotes once, where we could switch to warm lighting, but those are all gone. The last one we used for four lamps then vanished in the toilet, when Flavius did not want to surrender it to his brother. And yes, those remotes are small and fit into the sewer pipe. Unfortunately! So I spent the whole day in glaring lights doing things as far away of those lamps as possible. No crossword puzzles, no sudokus for me today! I always get a headache under such circumstances. A cheer for the oncoming dark season and my increased consumption of Aspirin and the like!
I also did not do a visit to the shopping centre, but only because my car was already off with hubby. Sister mine needed another service- the new door cylinder had finally arrived, and hubby was the lucky one to have to install it. What scares me is that I haven´t seen or heard a peep from sister´s husband. He has been at her side for years but hasn´t come to Salzburg for almost two months in a row now. He is not in best health apparently- he is over eighty already, has problems with the heart (as do many people as tall as he is) and his hip- the second will get repaired in October. Since hubby was off I started to declutter my cupboards, put the crockery which was still fine into a cardboard box for the flea market next week and did clean the wall units. At least, hubby noticed the lack of kindlings in the garage and brought three bundles from the DiY market- it´s not only dark but cold also in the house and will stay so the next days.
Today finally was spaghetti day with basil-lemon pesto- it was okay on the border to good- might buy it again for cases of emergency. We have had much worse, especially those no-name pestos from Aldi, Hofer ad lidl. Before we could start after-lunch napping sister called again. Now it´s the piano she wants to sell. Well, it´s not mine but belongs to my niece, and it´s still in her flat in Munich, so let niece sell it or do it yourself! And when I finally made it upstairs to the bedroom, daughter sent me the dates of her next early shifts, and I almost had a heart attack- four times from first to sixth October! I am still wondering if I will survive those early morning attacks!
Schnuckele´s owner is back from vacation in Croatia- unmistakeable, because she hollered for her cat. I picked Schnuckele out of the cardboard box and set her free on the terrace. Neighbour called me in the late afternoon and told me that now her sister´s house got flooded- sister lives somewhere in England. Darn, there´s a lot of flooding going on these days! BTW, son sent me a picture he took today- that´s the collection site of the demolished furniture. Ouch!
