Yesterday evening we got a first greeting from winter. After three weeks without precipitations it was snowing, blessedly only for a short time. I was too lazy to take pictures, and in the morning all snow was gone.
I thought I'd never say this, but I miss the fog. I know, it's dark and grey then, but it also dampens the sounds. Comes in very handy during early morning hours, when people around will start daily work. If one takes into account the vast number of cars travelling the road from four in the morning on, one has to accept that there a severe limitation to public traffic. Because this would mean that there'd have to be early busses. Early means 3:30. Ha! They don't even have enough bus drivers to keep up normal traffic!
First thing I got in the morning was a call of a very insistent lady working for the funeral insurance. I had not had my first cup of coffee yet, so I might have reacted a tad displeased- it was not even eight in the morning! At some point hubby took over, or I'd have eaten my counterpart alive. Or scorched to a crisp at least! Next call was sister mine, who needed help from hubby. Well, she could have called hubby instead of me then! She was at our house at ten for coffee and one cooky. Then she and hubby were off. Finally quiet- for approximately half an hour, then the two were back for more coffee and a cookie for hubby. My sister politely declined, while I happily munched mine. That´s why I am a blob and she´s thin as a rake. But I needed the sugar to get over the shock at being beleaguered a big part of the morning! Hubby left again, to fix sis´s new TV set, only that a part of the wall broke off and he had to return again in the afternoon with hole filler. At that time I finally had found the book sister wanted to have a look at- it´s ´Never too small´and shows the ways one can tackle a tiny flat like the one she has rented next to her own flat. BTW, I met the father of the owner of the flat, who has been a childhood friend of mine- the one with the toy train who loved to play with my dolls while I happily operated the train. He is still bemoaning the fact that his son has bought a row house in the vicinity of his own, and that he now has to live so near to his offspring, who is about to procreate with his fiancée. He is a clever man, this childhood friend of mine! His and his wife´s quiet life as pensioners is at stake!
The rest of the day got spent with a bit of cooking- hubby had bought cevapcici at the butcher (beef only, because I am not so fond of ground meat with both pork and beef), I did the djuvec rice. After a short nap hubby was off again, I brought some laterns down and cleaned them then went in search of the Christmas fabric I bought last year to protect the painting on the sideboards from getting scratched. No fabric was found- either Hubby or I must have disposed of it. BTW- did the same with the wool oddments I had put aside to knit the tiny scarves I need for the boys´ Advent wreath. There are days I am very well aware that I am on my way to go senile. Good thing is that I will have forgotten about it the next day...
No knitting got done today- even though I did not knit that much yesterday my wrist were hurting a bit. So one day to nurse them is in order! Means that I can concentrate on napping in front of the TV instead of operating knitting needles!
