...because there are some evening visits to do, so no time for posting late. Even the afternoon got taken by a flying visit of a friend I haven´t seen for ages, if only for a short hour. Since I was not able to do much the last week I will have to make up for missing meeting up with friends- gets traditionally done during the third week of Advent. And since hubby has scheduled a trip to Graz on Friday (:(( ) to pick son and his old PC up but does not want to travel alone, another precious day for social contacts will get wasted. I hope we will not return late, because, as I said already, next morning it will be early shift for daughter (and me, driving-wise). I still do not know for how many persons I will have to cook on Christmas Eve and Day. But DiL 2 has consented to help. Good thing is that the dips for the turkey can be prepared in advance and will go into the freezer till Wednesday next week. Another thing I noticed this weekend: how come that young Cassian is able to sing Oh Tannenbaum in two languages but cannot for love and money memorise the days of the week, when his father, uncles and aunt were able to write them down at his age? Clearly no one cares about his education- is father is off for work all week long, with additional evening shifts, and mum- well, mum teaches him how to talk Romanian, and that´s all she does. To my mind this boy is definitely not ready for school...
I did not have to cook today, because hubby had made too many Schnitzel yesterday, as usual. I am not complaining, but I want Spaghetti Carbonara so much- bought Guanciale (and dry-cured ham, because I like it this way) and two sorts of Italian hard cheese. And now I wait, and will have to wait to do carbonara until tomorrow, because hubby always changes the cooking plans to my disadvantage. He does not do so to anger me- problem is that he simply does not remember what I told him what´s on the menue plan!
Hubby was off around midday- for the post office, to bring the new Christmas sweaters and Flavius´s cookie box they forgot to take along to family number two, to do probably even more unwanted shopping- does that man ever realise that our freezer is on the verge of exploding? When he came back he announced that in the late afternoon a former colleague plus husband plus dog were to come for a late coffee and cookies- cookies he forgot to buy. Isn´t it a good thing that I did bake, if only a bit? My hope is that the owners of the dog won´t feed the cookies to that black hellhound again. Each time that beast is in our house it does something inappropriate for a dog, even though doggie has been attending dog obedience school, and thrice at that. I´d say this says a lot about the character of the black beast...
