Never ever again...
Dec. 23rd, 2024 12:52 pm ...will I set my foot into a shop on the 23rd of December. I slept until eight today. When I got up at three in the morning, I found that it had started snowing during night. Not that much snow, but this was the first day hubby had not put a cover on the windscreen of my car, and temperatures had dropped, so that the snow was frozen. I had a cup of coffee, put on
my anorak and began to remove the mess. Driving was so much fun- we made it to the airport just in time! Back home I fell asleep but soon got woken again by hubby's alarm- he wanted to be in the shops early, yet came back home late and thoroughly exhausted. I prepared tomorrow's dinner then tidied the upper bedrooms. Son was up early- his agenda for today was watch the Return of the King, and help me with cooking, if only occasionally. When DiL 2 showed up for her pork in my freezer I dressed again and left for Smyths Toys, who was selling Lego and Schleich articles at a discount. Needless to say that I never made it into the shop- no parking space available. I picked daughter up from work- the airport is nearby- and drove to our local shopping centre. We found a parking space after a while, but there were so many people doing last- minute shopping that I almost gave up. No more used to crowds I am! I got my magazines and the things hubby forgot to buy, but this was definitely the last shopping I'll do this year! Let hubby have all the fun! The afternoon got spent with drinking coffee and even more coffee, hoping that the fatigue might finally bugger off. Husband left again and came back home with a wheeled tray table, which he thinks I need for Christmas cooking. I see my grandchildren take over, pushing the thing all across the groundfloor- we have no doors there save for the loo and the guestroom! Oh, this will be so much fun, watching hubby go through the roof! In the evening I put the freshly washed bedclothes on the marital bed and was done.
Daughter had brought pistachio croissants, which we had in the late afternoon, so none of us felt the need for dinner. Now daughter is all over the house taking photos of the Christmas trees, the advent wreaths, the lanterns. Her friend at work, another Potterhead, wanted to see what Cassian and I have created for Christmas decorations. And I found that the boys had made a new lantern when I was off today. We now have a baby Thestral pulling a sledge with a kneazle on top. How convenient that the boys know where to find all the stuff and no one, least of all hubby, will stop them, when they go through the content of my cabinets! Oh eell, at least they had fun!
